Chronological History
- Born in the City of Brandon, Manitoba on August 28th, 1972.
- Began Karate lessons at the YMCA in February of 1986. The “Brandon Shotokan Karate Club” was an affiliated Dojo to the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF).
- Represented Manitoba in September of 1990 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Toronto, Ontario.
- Received Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) on August 17th, 1991 under Sensei Yutaka Yaguchi in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
- Founded the Traditional Karate of Brandon in September of 1992. The first lessons were held in the “Oval Room” at the Canada Games Sportsplex.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 1992 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Calgary, Alberta.
- Received Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) on February 26th, 1994 under Sensei Teruyuki Okazaki in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
- Attended Master Camp and the SHOTO Cup (JKA World Championships) in July of 1994 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 1994 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Purchased the building located on #633 Rosser Avenue for the Traditional Karate of Brandon during the spring of 1995.
- Placed 2nd in Kata and 2nd in Kumite at the 1995 ISKF Manitoba Provincial Tournament held in Winnipeg.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 1995 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Placed in the top 16 competitors (Kata Division) for Canada.
- Placed 1st in Kata at the 1996 ISKF Manitoba Provincial Tournament held in Winnipeg.
- Received Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) on August 25th, 1996 under Sensei Teruyuki Okazaki in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 1996 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Vancouver, British Columbia.
- Placed 2nd in Kata and 1st in Kumite at the 1998 ISKF Manitoba Provincial Tournament held in Winnipeg.
- Placed 3rd in Kata at the 1998 ISKF Western Canadian Provincial Championships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
- Placed 1st in Kata and 1st in Kumite at the 1999 ISKF Manitoba Provincial Tournament held in Winnipeg. Received "Best Competitor" award.
- Received Yondan (4th Degree Black Belt) on May 16th, 2000 under Sensei Yutaka Yaguchi in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
- Placed 1st in Kata and 3rd in Kumite at the 2000 ISKF Manitoba Provincial Tournament held in Winnipeg.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 2000 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Banff, Alberta.
- Placed 1st in Kata and 1st in Kumite at the 2001 ISKF Manitoba Provincial Tournament held in Winnipeg. Received "Best Competitor" award.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 2001 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Placed 2nd in Kata and 2nd in Kumite at the 2002 ISKF Manitoba Provincial Tournament held in Winnipeg.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 2002 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Placed 4th in Kumite and also placed in the top 16 competitors (Kata Division) for Canada.
- Represented ISKF Canada in March 2003 at a selection tournament for the SHOTO Cup (JKA World Championships) in Montreal, Quebec.
- Represented Manitoba in October of 2003 at the ISKF Canadian National Championship in Vancouver, British Colombia. Placed in the top 16 competitors (Kata Division) for Canada.
- Resigned from the ISKF on March 5th, 2004.
- Joined the World Traditional Karate Organization (WTKO) on September 30th, 2006.
- Received Godan (5th Degree Black Belt) on July 5th, 2008 in New York City under Sensei John Mullin and Sensei Richard Amos.
- Received C Class Kenshusei (Certified Instructor / Examiner / Judge Program) from Sensei Richard Amos on November 8th, 2009.
- Appointed National Director of WTKO Canada in 2010 by Sensei John Mullin, and Sensei Richard Amos.
- Placed 1st in Kata and 3rd in Kumite at the 2011 WTKO North American Championships in Brooklyn, New York.
- Appointed to the position of WTKO General Secretary, and member of the WTKO Executive Committee on November 26th, 2011.
- Received B Class Kenshusei (Certified Instructor / Examiner / Judge Program) from Sensei Richard Amos in 2011.
- Accepted as a Council Member of the International Shotokan-Ryu Karate-Do Shihankai on January 29th, 2012.
- Received Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt) on July 20th, 2013 in Thun, Switzerland under Sensei John Mullin and Sensei Richard Amos.
- Received A Class Kenshusei (Certified Instructor / Examiner / Judge Program) from Sensei Richard Amos in 2013.
- International Shotokan-Ryu Karate-Do Shihankai recognized the grade of Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt) on January 2nd, 2014.
- Appointed to the position of WTKO International Director by Sensei John Mullin and Sensei Richard Amos on April 10th, 2017.
- Received Nanadan (7th Degree Blackbelt) on May 1st, 2022 under Sensei John Mullin, and Sensei Richard Amos.
